Monument Shadows is a challenging 18-hole regulation course that lies at the base of Scotts Bluff National Monument in Gering. Holes one through eight are part of the original 9-hole layout with wide, straight, tree-lined fairways. The fairways lead to medium-sized greens that have subtle built-in breaks. The rest of the course features mounding, sand traps and water. The 3rd has “badlands” along the right side of the fairway. It is a scenic washed-out sand rock area that is part of the Monument.
The course rating is 73.1 with a slope rating of 125. Monument Shadows is a municipal golf course with an “open to the public” guest policy.
Course amenities include putting green, driving range, pro shop, practice bunker, cart rental, restaurant and lounge. If you like golf with a view, get to Gering and Monument Shadows.

This Scottsbluff public course lies to the west of Scotts Bluff National Monument. The front nine plays tougher than the back with water on three holes and tightly tree-lined fairways. The fairways have many small plateaus and ridges. Holes six through nine are as scenic and challenging as any four-hole series in the state. The sixth requres a 150-yard carry over a pond to a narrow green; the seventh starts with a tee shot over water, between two cottonwoods, to a fairway leading steeply tilted green.
Riverview has the distinction of having Nebraska’s only floating driving range. If you like good golf and eye-pleasing scenery, you’ll enjoy Riverview. Tee times not required weekdays; required 1 day in advance on weekends.
